Dichroic Glass Jewelry Class at The Glass Bar
The Dichroic Glass Jewelry Class at The Glass Bar always makes for a special night of creativity and fun. New to dichroic glass, or glass work in general? Don’t worry, you’ve come to the right spot.
The process of making Dichroic Glass is an interesting process. The process consists of placing a piece of glass inside of a vacuum chamber. Then an electron beam vaporizes different metals, which fall onto the piece of glass. The resulting color of the dichroic depends on the way the metals layer on the glass. This causes each piece of dichroic to be completely unique.
Although that would be an awesome class to take – that’s not what we do! At The Glass Bar we use dichroic glass as a material to work with, and we make some awesome stuff.
We’ll teach you all the tricks you need to know to create a beautiful set of dichroic glass jewelry. You’ll leave feeling confident with a piece that will have you bragging, “I made it!”
The class will begin with glass safety instructions. Then, you will use regular glass to learn how to cut, shape and design glass. This lesson takes about 30 minutes, depending the individual. Then we will dive into the magical world of dichroic – there’s a lot of “sciencey” stuff here, but it’s a ton of fun! Our friendly instructors will work one on one with you until you are confident in creating.
In this glass jewelry class you may chose to create a pendant with a matching pair of earrings, or a bracelet. Don’t worry guys, we didn’t forget about you! Just because this is a jewelry class doesn’t mean you can’t make something awesome – make a key chain or a ring!
This course will take 1-2 hours. Students are welcome to leave as they finish.
